Teri Lynn Walker was born June 16th, 1958. She was born prematurely and had to be put in an incubator for quite some time. She fought through this though to live, and was given the nickname, “Mighty Mouse”, from her Grandpa Johnny Lane. She had Cerebral Palsy that affected her legs, but that would not stop her from walking. If you were to look at her childhood pictures, she had a smile that has carried on through out her life that brings joy and warmth to us.
She met Terry Walker in November of ‘74 and soon married. She would become a loving mother on June 12, 1979 when she had her son, Anthony. She was the best mother anyone could ask for. Even though her and Terry did not have that much money, they would always provide and make sure to have their son grow up strong and healthy as well as happy.
She developed cancer when she was only 43. She fought a long battle with this. We were all relieved the day she went in and found out it had been cured. This had took a toll on her body though, as well as brought about depression.
The pain in her legs began to get worse. She started taking medication for this, as well as for depression. As her pain increased, so did the amount of pills she would take, ultimately causing her to overdose not once, but three times. Thankfully, she survived because nothing can stop someone nicknamed Mighty Mouse.
She kept her head up and spirits, and these were fueled even more by the visits and phone calls for support for her from family members.
She was a big fan of Dr. Pepper. You could not go a day without ever seeing a bottle of it in her hand or a two litter in the fridge. She really did enjoy the little things. She also loved Janis Joplin.
She loved to go camping when her and her family lived in Pioche, Nevada.
Teri was very happy and proud when her son Anthony graduated from high school, she knew she had raised her son right, even though he could be onry at times. Her proudest moment came when her son got married. She had got all dressed up and her hair done. Everything about her that day was vibrant and full of joy. She loved her son so much as her son did her.
Even with all her depression, pain and suffering, she could still laugh. Her spirit never fell. She would always put her feelings last and help her son with whatever he was going through.
She was always a fighter since birth, and that is why we were all shocked to here of her passing. God must have known something was coming and had to end it before it got to worse. He wanted to preserve my mom’s spirit. And for that, we thank him.
She passed away on August 20, 2013 in her sleep too soon at the age of 55. We would like to think that the next time she opened her eyes, there is no more pain and suffering and all the Dr. Pepper she could drink in Heaven. We are sure all of our loved ones that have passed are just as shocked as we are to see her so soon in Heaven, but are comforting her until the day it is our time to visit for a big family reunion of no worries, pain or suffering. She is survived by her Husband, Terry, her son Anthony, her Brother John, and her Mom Linda.
