Roy Wright November 21, 1924- April 29, 2015 Resident of Bakersfield, California passed away peacefully with his wife, Dottie Wright of 40 years next to his side.
Roy was a decorated World War II Navy Combat Veteran. He was a part of the second Honor Flight out of Bakersfield to Washington DC where he got the experience of a life time. He took pride in his country with many stories to tell to his children, grandchildren and friends.
His love for trains was no secret to anyone as he was a proud member of the train club in Bakersfield, CA. His friends at the club were his "buddies". He had many outings watching trains and having lunch, which was a big part of his life.
Roy touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. As he would say in his own words "Glad you got to see me".
He leaves behind his children and their spouses Michael (Christa) and their Daughter, Becky, Raymond (Laurie), Leslie (Alvin), and Jim (Sheri) and their Daughters, Taryn and Kylie. He was loved by his Brother, Charles; Sister, Mary; and his numerous Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, and friends.
One thing about losing someone is that the length of their life does not determine how ready we are for them to be gone.? We will miss you! By the way, we are still waiting for that piece of chocolate cake.
The family requests all donations be sent to the wonderful people who gave such wonderful care to Roy in his time of need at Gentiva Hospice, 5001 E. Commerce Dr., Bakersfield, CA 93309.
