Robert Earl Miller, 90, of Bakersfield, California died Tuesday, January 25, 2022 in the comfort of his home. Friends are invited to join the family for the funeral service on Thursday, February 3rd, at 10:00 a.m. The service will be in the Laurelglen Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 9900 White Oak Drive, Bakersfield, California. A viewing will be in the Relief Society room at 9:00 a.m.
Robert (Bob) was born on April 29, 1931. He was raised and educated in Bakersfield and graduated from East Bakersfield High School in 1945. He met and married his sweetheart, Karen Erlene Nielsen, of Bakersfield in 1957. They had a wonderful 64 years of life together while raising their six children.
Bob spent the first few years of his adult life serving his country in the United States Air Force. From there he worked first for Standard Oil Company and then for The California Water Service. He enjoyed working as a Chief Pump Operator and retired from Cal Water after 26 years of employment. In retirement he enjoyed camping, traveling, visiting with family and working his various model trains. Bob will be remembered for his humorous wit and love of all things chocolate.
Deloss W. Miller and Ada M. Baker were Robert's parents who preceded him in death as well as his sisters Donna Jenks (Joe) and LouAnn Wisseman (Kurt).
Bob is survived by his wife Karen and children Sharon (Robert) Brady, Linda (Dennis) Thomason, Michael (Gloria) Miller, Daniel (Melissa) Miller, Stephen (Suzi) Miller, Janelle (Tim) Eldridge and Karlo Lopez. He is also survived by his brother David A. Miller (Betty) as well as 24 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Hoffman Hospice for their loving care and all that they provided for Bob's comfort. He will be buried in the Bakersfield National Cemetery.
