Norman Laxson resident of Bakersfield, passed away on February 9, 2018 at the age of 83. Norman was born on December 19, 1934 in Pond, CA and raised in McFarland.
He worked for many years as a milkman in the Delano/McFarland area, and then as an insurance agent for Inter-Coast Life Insurance where he was named Rookie of the Year 1965. He was very proud of his salesmanship accomplishments where he shined working for several companies in the agricultural industry.
What brought him the most satisfaction was when he started his own business as a pioneer in the organic recycling industry in California.
He retired in 1994 and went on to have a very active retirement. He turned his favorite hobby of firearms into a business selling guns where he met some of his dearest friends.
He was an avid sports fan and was never happier than when attending a game where one of his nephews or their friends were playing.
He was a devout member of the LDS Church where he held positions of leadership. In recent years he enjoyed serving at the Los Angeles Temple.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 64-1/2 years, Romona Holloway Laxson, their four daughters: Lana Smith (Michael), Lyn Floyd (Bob), Lisa McMillan (Robert), and Leslie Laxson. Their six grandchildren and four (and a half) great grandchildren.
Also left to cherish his memory are his beloved sisters: Linda Jeffery, Eloise Ferrell, and Marlene Kitchen.
Missing him greatly is his precious little Jack Russell, Ellen.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday February 14, 2018 at 11am at Hillcrest Cemetery.
