Nena Christine Strecker

September 13, 1935 — January 2, 2013

Nena was born in Cordell, OK to Chester Garland & Effie Pearl Ferguson. Nena grew up in Cordell, OK. She dreamed of leaving her small town for the big life. When her older sister, Alberta called, from San Diego, CA & offered her a job to help her babysit her boys she jumped at the chance. Wow! She was going to Ca! Nena thought she was hot stuff leaving her small town. She was babysitting & then got another job at a soda shop& Five and Dime called Kress. All the handsome Naval guys came through there. One day this nice looking Navy guy walks up & says to Nena, "Hey Kitten what's shaken"?! Nena looked at him and thought wow what a bad boy, but he can be fun. He was soo much different from the boys in Cordell, OK. That was her first husband, Aubrey. They had 5children, but only 3lived. They moved from The town Nena loved so much and ended up in Bakersfield. Eventually they divorced. While waiting for her divorce to become final Nena met her soul mate, Dale. She knew he was from the very first kiss. She explained it as if she was never alive until Dale kissed her. When he did she was born that very moment. He made her toes tingle she said. When Nena's divorce was final that very next month Dale and Nena were married. August 24, 1980. They were never away from each other. Dale had a motorcycle and they were off! They always ended up on the coast at Montana Del Oro. Their perfect spot of the world. Dale and Nena traveled around the United States. That would be the last big trip they would take. They talked about and had such a wonderful time of it. The only times if any when they were away from each other was when Nena was hospitalized and even then Dale would sleep on those uncomfortable chairs. At times when he had to get a few hours of sleep their daughter Donna would sleep there, but Dale just never wanted to leave his baby. Dale and Nena were not able to take long trips after Nena started to become sick, but they looked forward to going to fish at the Coastal area with their other daughter Darlene and her children or Thanksgiving. They always spent Christmas with Donna and her family. Their love was such a love that comes but once in a persons lifetime if they are lucky. We will miss you until we meet again in Heaven! We all will love you Forever!
