Moorman (aka “Bud”) Oliver, Jr. passed away on February 17, 2014. He was born on March 31, 1935 to B.F. Moorman and Clara Louise Woodward Oliver in Tyler, Texas. He completed high school at Alan Military Academy in Bryan, Texas and moved with his family to California in 1953. He worked for the City of Ontario in the survey department and then went into the Air Force. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1963. He then worked with his father in the Santa Ynez Valley as Manager of a horticultural business. In 1966 he joined the Santa Barbara Sheriff department and retired in 1992. After retirement from the Sheriff’s department he moved to Bakersfield, CA where he enjoyed being close to family. He is survived by his brother, Lawrence E. Oliver of Tyler Texas, his two sons, Kevin and Kerry, daughter-in-laws, Cindy Oliver and Linda Johnson-Oliver as well as 5 grandchildren: Christina Snapp, Justin Oliver, Jordan Oliver, Megan Oliver and Jonathan Oliver. He also had three great grandchildren: Zadkeil Pearman, Autumn Snapp and Ryder Snapp. His pride and joy was his grandchildren. Bud was a loving and loyal brother, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed. Services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial located at 9101 Kern Canyon Rd, Bakersfield, CA 93306 on March 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. on the Hill of Valor.
