Michael Penkauskas

September 16, 1969 — December 26, 2015

Michael Anthony Penkauskas I, age 46, died on Saturday, December 26th, 2015 in Bakersfield California. He was born September 16, 1969 in Wiesbaden Germany to Eleanor (Smith) and Mathew Penkauskas Sr. He is the youngest of three siblings: Julie (Green) and Mathew Penkauskas Jr. From an early age, he had a knack for working on cars and electronics. While growing up in Klamath Falls, Oregon, he developed a love for the outdoors and riding dirt bikes. His desire for tinkering and engineering drove him to become a machinist and welder. For 15 years he worked at Ingalls Machine and absolutely loved his work. He loved to teach anyone who would listen. While mentoring as a motorsports advisor for North High School, he instilled his knowledge in everyone he met and made many friends. His hobbies included motorsports, shooting, camping, billiards and anything technical. He enjoyed Star Trek and Star Wars, which he passed on to his sons. He touched the hearts of everyone in his life and no words can give him justice. He leaves behind two sons and three grandsons: Michael Penkauskas II married to Jean (Kroutil), parents of Liam, Leighton, and Lincoln; and Calvin Penkauskas. Viewing will be held at Kern River Mortuary (1900 N Chester Ave, Bakersfield, CA 93308) on Saturday, January 2nd 2016 from 1:00-3:00pm. Private services will be held subsequently.
