Marlene Thomas

Marlene Rae Thomas went home to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully with her beloved daughter Lisa by her side on June 14, 2021.

Marlene was born June 9, 1952 and had just celebrated her 69th birthday. Marlene attended local schools, completed beauty college, and had a successful career in hairdressing. Marlene’s clients miss her to this day and often comment of her gifted talents.

Marlene married Rod Phillips, and, together they had the joy and love of her life, Lisa Renée, Marlene’s one and only child. Later in life, Marlene met the man of her dreams, John Thomas, and together they raised Lisa, sharing many happy years together with their grandchildren.

Marlene loved her family with all of her heart, and also loved music and dancing.

Marlene is survived by her daughter Lisa (Joe) Young, sister Tammy (Tim) Marvin, brother Eddie (Annie) Lesnak, grandson’s Michael Farley, Bo (Andrea) Farley, Daniel (Danielle) Farley, great grandson Bo Farley, and two great granddaughters, Kaylee and Teagan Farley. Marlene is preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Enderle, her father, Charles Lesnak, her husband, John Thomas, and Lisa’s father, Rod Phillips and many aunts and uncles and cousins and friends ❤️

Marlene was her happiest living these last 7 years with her daughter, Lisa, and her family, who helped and supported her lovingly. Her family is so grateful for the last 10 months spent with Marlene since her diagnosis of cancer. She never complained and fought cancer like the strong champion she was. The love of Marlene’s family carried her, and Marlene’s faith carried her family. She was most grateful that God never gave up on her and most thankful for the love, grace, and mercy found in Christ.

A celebration of life service will be held Monday, June 21, at 6:30pm at Olive Knolls Church(6201 Fruitvale Ave Bakersfield, Ca)
