Marian Frances Peterson passed away May 18, 2022, at the age of 96. Marian was born December 8, 1925 to Frank and Alice Deloney in Stockton, CA. At the age of eight her father purchased a small ranch in Lathrop, CA, where she attended a two-room school until she started sixth grade. After her graduation from eighth grade in French Camp, she attended Manteca High School where she was an honor student and held various offices including president of the senior class. Upon graduation she was offered a job with California Farm Production Council. She was proud to have a state car for business and transportation.
In 1946 her cousin introduced her to a returning veteran, Cal Peterson, the love of her life. They were married in February, 1947 and the marriage lasted sixty-three years until his death in June, 2010. They moved to Bakersfield where Cal worked for Casa Moore Furniture and later became a partner in the business. Together they raised three sons, Michael, David and Kurt. Marian was proud of her sons and their families.
Marian was a gracious hostess and enjoyed entertaining. She and Cal also enjoyed traveling and visited countries all over the world, her favorite being Ireland. They were members of Bakersfield and Stockdale Country Clubs. She was active in the Lutheran Church. While at Our Savior Lutheran Church, she was the chairperson of the Board of Education and taught Sunday school for twelve years. At St. John's Lutheran Church she served on the Altar Guild and Board of Trustees. She also volunteered at Mercy Hospital for seventeen years.
In 2006 she and Cal moved to Rosewood Retirement Home, but continued to travel and enjoy retirement. Marian would always say that she was blessed to have had a wonderful husband, family and friends.
