Margaret "Maggie" Ann Dyer (Myrick-Hockett) February 11, 1948 - January 20, 2013 Margaret Ann Dyer (Myrick-Hockett), 64, of Bakersfield, passed away on January 20, 2013. Margaret was born on February 11, 1948 in Santa Maria, CA. She was the second born of eight children to Fred Hockett (Fire Captain, Woody, CA) and to June Hockett (The Homemaker). She attended high school at Shafter High School, where she met her first husband Jerry Myrick. Margaret and Jerry married and had three children. Margaret worked in the restaurant industries for several years before she opened her heart and home up to become a caregiver to a close disabled friend. She had a strong religious belief in faith and loved her family and friends dearly. The last two years she was faced with the challenges from several strokes, leaving her immobilized and in a nursing home. She met her wonderful roommate June, who always looked out for her and loved her like a sister. With everything she endured, she kept a positive attitude, sense of humor, and smile. She had a heart of gold and always had a huge smile, even in the darkest of times. She was known for her kind gentle spirit, and just being goofy. Her presence will be missed by all that knew and loved her. Margaret was preceded in death by her infant son, Robert Lee Myrick; her first husband, Jerry Myrick; parents, Fred and June Hockett; sister, Carolyn Lindsey; and brother, Jim Hockett. Margaret is survived by her husband, Dave; daughter, Mary (Jimmy) Stinnett; daughter, Linda Martin; grandchildren, Amanda, Andrew, Aaron, Jonathan, Kayla, and Brent; great grandchildren, Madisyn, Shelby,and Gracie; brother, Bill (Karen) Hockett; sister, Laura (Frank) Studer; sister, Marilyn (David) Ratzlaff; sister, Sarah (Ron) Searcy; brother, David (Cindy) Hockett; many nieces, nephews, and loving friends. Graveside service will be held at Shafter Memorial Park on Saturday, February 9, at 11:00 a.m
