Downtown Kitty Brown Celebration of Life April 6, 2019 Kern River Family Mortuary Chapel Starting at 12 p.m.
Kathleen “Kitty” Ann Casey Brown Corvese, 67, passed away on February 9, 2019 in Oildale, CA. She is survived by her daughter Paula Brown and her husband Kelly Jackson and their son Cooper; son William Brown and wife Christine and their son Russell. She was the daughter of William Clyde Casey and Marilyn Kirk Casey; sister to Lynn Casey Houston, Michael Casey and Bill Casey; and Aunt to Chuck, Robert, Carrie and Hailey.
Kitty was born on September 9, 1951 in Scripps Hospital, La Jolla, CA. She grew up in Oildale and attended Beardsley Schools before attending North High School where she met and married Boyd Russell Brown.
Russ and Kitty moved from Taft, CA to Wrightsville Beach, NC where they had many adventures. They lived near the beach where they often surfed and sailed their Hobie Cat sailboat on the Atlantic Ocean and in the Masonboro Sound. They even took trips to the Outer Banks, Florida and the Caribbean on Russ’ parents boat. They made many memories together traveling and raising a family.
Kitty loved making people happy and she found employment mostly in the food service industry where she was able to meet many people and lifelong friends. Loyal customers/friends would follow her to whichever restaurant she worked at just to enjoy her sense of humor and hear her infectious laugh. She worked for employers in both North Carolina and California who were grateful for her strong work ethic and dedication. She eventually owned her own café, Kitty’s Place in Oildale, CA where she enjoyed serving people, entertaining and listening to customers share their stories.
In 2002, she married Dennis Corvese. They made trips across the United States together in Dennis’ 18-wheel semi-truck …and they always had Nick, her furry child, with them. Dennis was not fond of the dog hair, but he loved that Kitty was able to travel with him. They visited aviation museums and various historic sites together on their long trips.
Kitty was a lifelong learner. No matter what situation she was in, she found something to discover and explore. She loved learning to surf and sail with Russ while in North Carolina. She had a passion for vintage aircraft and spent many years working and socializing at Meadows Field. She recruited family and friends to attend air shows all over California. Kitty loved to research subjects like Egyptology, legal issues and the law, healthy living and herbal remedies and conspiracy theories. She spent many years researching and studying on the internet and she devoured books seeking knowledge... sharing that information with others and helping as many people as she could. She eventually returned to school and completed training to become a para-legal with amazing grades and on the Dean’s List.
Kitty was an amazing friend to so many. Everywhere she traveled she made friends and built relationships. She loved to talk to people, learn about them and where they came from, discover their experiences and help in any way she could. If you knew Kitty Brown, you knew she was extraordinary, talented, genuine, compassionate, gifted, sensitive, caring and kind.
