Kim J Ambriz

d. July 29, 2018

Kim John Ambriz passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 29th at the Bakersfield Heart Hospital. A native of Bakersfield California, he was born on January 4th, 1958 to Mary and Albert “Curley” Ambriz. Kim attended Bakersfield High School and, upon graduation, enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Marines in 1976, he went on to marry the love of his life, Tammie, and to raise three daughters, Kimberly, Rochelle, and Megan. Those who knew Kim would describe him as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family unconditionally. His loyalty to his family and friends was both a product of his personality and his experience in the Marines. “Once a Marine, always a Marine” was a slogan that described Kim perfectly. It was a common sight to see him with his USMC hat and shirt while taking care of grandkids and telling them stories. A man of many talents, Kim could build a patio, tile a kitchen, or make some of the most beautiful holiday decorations for friends and family. He had a big personality that could fill any room, and he will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
The youngest of four children, Kim is preceded in death by his father and mother, Albert and Mary Ambriz. He is survived by his wife, Tammie Ambriz; siblings, Don (Jane) Ambriz, Barbara (Duke) Delagarza, and Shirley Ambriz; daughters Kimberly Ambriz, Rochelle (Tony) Ruiz, Megan (Scott) Mawson; his six grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Bakersfield Heart Hospital. We would like to send a special thank you to Doctor Ashraf (and other doctors), the many nurses and respiratory therapists, support staff, and social worker Jeri Darr for their compassionate help, care, and support.
