He moved to Bakersfield with his family as a young boy and attended local schools, graduating from Bakersfield High School. After High School, Ken served in the U.S. Navy as an Interior Communications Electrician (IC) aboard the USS Winston, USS Blueback, and Norton Sound. He also enjoyed living at Solstice Senior Living where he made numerous friends and was involved in many activities. Lifelong hobbies included hunting and fishing; he enjoyed these times with family and friends. He always looked forward to September 1st each year, when he would have the opportunity to connect with his sons, grandson, and old friends for the annual dove hunt including his last hunt in September 2022.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Alfred H. and Marjorie M. Orand; his brother and sister-in-law, Bobby L. and Nancy O’Rand; and brother-in-law, Kirby Aslesen.
