It is in loving memory that the Mebane family shares the passing of Kenneth Mebane, Jr.. Kenny went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 10, 2021. Kenny was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved spending time with his family. He also loved spending time with his animals.
Kenny was born in Bakersfield on January 10, 1945. He attended Shafter high school where he excelled in the Future Farmers of America and won grand champion with one of his steers. Kenny was also among a select few FFA members to serve as an ambassador for the FFA in Europe. Kenny was an all-star baseball player, having held the record for the best batting average at Shafter High School for 30 years. After high school, Kenny attended Cal poly, San Luis Obispo where he majored in animal husbandry. Kenny was known as one of the best livestock judges in the state of California. He always looked forward to judging bulls with his cousin Dwight at the Famosa bull sale each year. He loved raising cattle and was well respected by his fellow livestock producers. His family and friends will remember Kenny as a kind and gentle person who was devout in his faith and always eager to serve God. Kenny served in many different ministries at Valley Baptist Church and traveled to Central America on several occasions to share the gospel. He loved music, played the piano, sang in the church choir. He even sang as a solo act on various occasions. Many will remember Kenny’s contagious laughter and his love for telling good jokes.

Kenny is survived by his wife, Kita Mebane, his daughter Melissa Johnson and husband Donny, his son Jacob Mebane and wife Catrina, his stepsons Michael Cooper and wife Valorie, Kris Cooper and wife Sarah, and Nick Cooper, his grandchildren Sydney, Lucas and wife Hannah, Eislea, Meagan, Madison, Matthew, Ashli, Kaleb, and Sophia, and his siblings, Karen Mebane, Robert Mebane, and Mark Mebane.

Services will be held at Valley Baptist Church Olive dr Campus. 5500 Olive Drive Nov 29 @ 11am Officiating will be Pastor Phil Neighbors . Eulogy-Bruce Hatton
