Karen Marie Kirby

Karen Marie (Kirby) Jett, aged 76, passed away unexpectedly on December 9, 2016 in her home located in Bakersfield, CA.
Born August 31, 1940 in East Los Angeles, to Norval M. and Lois (Morris) Kirby, Karen lived most of her life in Bakersfield, California. After graduating from East Bakersfield High School and briefly attending Brigham Young University, she married Wayne T. Jett in 1959. Together they raised two children. She worked for many years in the petroleum industry (ARCO Oil and Gas) where her organizational and administrative skills were put to good use.
Karen loved to spend time planting flowers and making everything around her beautiful. She was a delightful hostess who enjoyed cooking and planning parties. Her greatest joy came from being of service to others. Her kindness, infectious smile and ready laugh will be missed by many.
She is survived by: her husband, Wayne, their two children, Pamela and Brian, three grandchildren, William, Charlotte, and Thomas Jett, and her brothers Ron (Beverly) and Dwight (Corinne) along with many extended family members.
A public viewing will be held at 12:30 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel, 316 A Street, Bakersfield, California. Funeral services will follow at 1:00.
Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, California.
