John LeRoy McCaa
September 18, 1951- February 20, 2018

Our Heavenly Father called John LeRoy McCaa home on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at the age of 66. John, born to James Orval and Dortha Maxine McCaa, where he was one of eight children, was raised in Bakersfield, California. John worked in the mortgage business for over 30 years. In recent years, John retired and became a crossing guard for Centennial Elementary School. John loved protecting the children he helped and loved each day at the school.
John was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served the church in many capacities. His love for the Savior was matched only by his love for his wife, Iris, to whom he was married 39 years, his 4 children and their spouses, Casey, Jordan (Bethany), Jacob (Tawnie), and Jamie (Todd), and his 12 beautiful grandchildren. John’s baby sister Jani and her husband Stu had a special place in his heart as well.
A die-hard Lakers, Dodgers and USC Trojan fan, John enjoyed watching and playing sports any time he had the opportunity. He loved to play golf and basketball; in a basketball game, he could be seen draining 3-pointers all game long.
John’s smiling face and sweet personality will be missed by the many people who knew and loved him, especially his family. Families are forever.
Services for John will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 5500 Fruitvale Ave. on Friday, March 2, 2018, at 10 a.m.
