Jerry Janzen

August 13, 1949 — January 27, 2015

Jerry went home to the Lord after a short but valiant battle with cancer.

He had a full career, serving 32 years with the California Highway Patrol, first as a Patrolman, then as a Sargent, closing out his career as a Lieutenant Commander of the Porterville office, retiring in 2004.

Upon retirement, he embraced the new phase of his life with gusto; traveling with his wife, Peggy, in their motorhome, and also enjoying international travel, making friends nationally as well as internationally.

He was also a very active member of his parish of Christ the King Catholic Church. Serving as a Lector, a Eucharistic Minister and an Acolyte.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 11 years Peggy, his son Joey Janzen (wife Marlou), daughter Jennifer Janzen Garcia (husband Ruben), stepchildren Ben Palmer (wife Nicole), Heather Palmer, Samantha Palmer, and Chelsea Palmer; His dear Mother Patsy Lowe and Stepfather Johnnie Lowe who was a true father to him. His brother Ron Janzen (wife Patsy), sisters Suzy Borradori (husband Dante) and Sheri Flippen. Jerry was gifted with 11 grandchildren, one great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rosary will be said Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 6:30 P.M. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1800 Bedford Way, Bakersfield, CA 93308. The Funeral Mass will be at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, February 5, 2015, also at Christ the King Church. A luncheon will follow in McGovern Hall.

In lieu of flowers, friends can make a donation to the California Highway Patrol Widows and Orphans Fund, or to the charity of your choice.
