Aug. 25, 1953 - Feb. 24, 2014 Bakersfield, CA Jerry Elven Hill, loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness Feb. 24, 2014.
He was born Aug. 25, 1953, in Philadelphia, PA, to Carl Hill and Carol Hill Alexander and grew up in Yukon, OK, graduating from Yukon High School in 1972. He served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps, 1972-74, and worked in the oil industry in OK and CA, and was living in Bakersfield, CA, at the time of his death.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, step-father Buddy Alexander, step-mother Rae, and brother Glen. He is survived by his wife Cheryl of Bakersfield, daughter and son-in-law Christie and Tad Stricker, and their three children Drew, Grant, and Sarah of Irvine, CA. His surviving sisters are Linda Chinn of Bismarck, ND, Sharon McGhee of Oklahoma City, and Sonya, Sharon, and Lois of Compton, CA. Surviving brothers are Gary and Steve Hill of Cerritos, CA, Brian Alexander of Oklahoma City, and Ricky Alexander of Yukon. He loved playing sports, especially baseball and softball, and was a big OSU and Dallas Cowboys fan. He was fun-loving and had a great sense of humor. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Service and burial will be at 1:30pm on Friday, March 14, 2014, at Bakersfield National Cemetery in Arvin, CA.
