Javier “Sparky” Legorreta was born in Acámbaro, Mexico to José and Soledad Legorreta on May 5, 1942. He passed peacefully in his home, with family by his side on June 21, 2024. He came to America in his early 20’s and then became an American citizen at the age of around 38 and from that moment on, he was a very proud American.
He became a welder and was soon one of the best, fast becoming known as “Sparky” in this world. He worked mostly in oilfield patches but ended his career with Smith Services.
Although he was diagnosed with Wegener’s Granulomatosis, then later with pancreatic cancer and then kidney cancer, none of it ever stopped him from his profound love of our Lord and his son Jesus. He spent many hours spreading that love and bringing others to know Christ as their one and only Savior.
He had a passion for playing and coaching baseball and passed on that passion, not only to his kids, but to his grandkids, nephews, nieces and any other family or friends that were willing to learn to play and enjoy the sport.
He had a knack for cracking the corniest jokes and then immediately cracking himself up over those corny jokes. He could whistle songs so beautifully that one would wish they could whistle half as well as he could. He had such a contagious laugh that you would soon find yourself laughing with tears in your eyes, just because he was laughing so hard at himself. He will be missed while we are all in this man’s world but cannot wait to be rejoined when the Lord decides it’s time to bring us home to Him.
