No viewing is scheduled for Harriet - Funeral services will be on Saturday January 16, 2021 Starting at 10 a.m. at Kern River Family Mortuary Chapel 1900 N. Chester Ave. Bakersfield ,CA 93308 with a burial to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery River Blvd in Bakersfield ,CA


Born in humble beginnings in 1937 on the side of the mountain in Caliente, Nevada, she graduated high school in Enterprise, Utah and went on to do a couple years at business college. She had her first job working at a bank in Henderson, Nevada and would later marry her husband, Elvis Russell, in 1958. She would raise three children: Dari Lee Russell, Michael Dean Russell, and Julie Gay (Russell) Gray and a granddaughter Daira Marie Russell. She was an avid bowler and was a member of many leagues with very high scores.

Great memories and everlasting bonds were made in Henderson, Nevada with friends Rance and Kathy White who grew to consider one another as a vital part of the family. After moving to Bakersfield from Henderson, Nevada, she worked at Kern Wholesale Liquor where she met her best friend Sue Eicher. Harriet would then move on to work for over 20 years at Daniells Phillips Vaughan & Brock CPAs & Advisors as an integral member of the team.

Harriet loved her family dearly, from children to grandchildren and great-grandchildren and never gave up on anyone, regardless of mistakes made, always responding with unconditional love.

Harriet was preceded in death by parents Bruce and Tressa Mackie, siblings Junior, Jack, Donna, George, Alexander, Robert, and Baby and grandsons Michael Andrew and Christopher. She lives on forever in the loving memories of children Dari (Sheri Nemitz), Michael, and Julie (Donnie Gray), and grandchildren Daira, Dari Jr., Steven, Michael, Aaron, Joshua and Garrett.
