Harold George Neville Jr.
3/27/1935–8/8/2022
George passed away after a short illness in the comfort of his own home. He will be missed by his family and numerous friends.
George was born in Evanston, Wyoming to Harold George Neville and Bessie Marie O’Farrell. George moved to Bakersfield, California with his family while in grade school. He attended East Bakersfield High School where he met the love of his life, Betty Jean Ketchem.
George worked hard to support his family. He worked for the Bakersfield Californian Newspaper, the Southern Pacific Railroad and Dawn Company before starting his own business–George’s Drapery Service. He also worked for a coroner’s Transport Service part time for a few years.
George was known for his positive attitude and friendly nature. He was a “can do” kind of guy who was always willing and able to help others. He was an excellent husband and father who demonstrated the value of hard work, honesty and dedication to the gospel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
George moved to Cedar City, Utah after the death of his wife, Betty. He bravely faced the challenge of living without her by learning to be self-sufficient and active in his community. He met many new friends and neighbors which gave him great comfort in the final chapter of his life.
George was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Betty and brother Charles, his beloved wife Betty, their eldest son Gary, and their grandson Eric. He is survived by his daughter Karen Mijarez (Art),son Brian (Desi), his grandsons Jason and Matthew Mijarez,Quinton and Alex Neville, his granddaughters Moriah (Noe)Ramirez and Donna Rikard. He has five great grandchildren, Eric Mijarez, Christian Mijarez Herda, Wyatt and Walker Ramirez, and Atlas Rikard. He also left behind a loving extended family and countless friends,
Services will be held Saturday August 20, 2022, 10:00am at the LDS Church on Panarama and Fairfax. Internment immediately following at Greenlawn Cemetary on River Blvd.
