Gloria June Davies
October 23, 1927 to October 22, 2015

Gloria June Davies, 87, of Bakersfield, CA returned to her Heavenly Home on Thursday, October 22, 2015 in Bakersfield, CA. She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Kendall, her mother, Edna Sand, her stepfather, Thomas Sand and her only sibling and younger brother, Ted Sand.
She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, William H. Davies, her 4 daughters: Diana and Will Vizzard, Sharon and Ron Hutchinson, Lynn and Rick Simpson, Debra and Val Hemingway, 14 Grandchildren and their spouses, 41 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandchild.

June was born on October 23, 1927 in Tulsa OK. Her father, Edward Kendall, died when she was 5 years old. Due to his death, her mother moved her and her little brother, Ted, to Arvin, CA. Eventually her mother met and married Thomas Sand and they moved to Oildale, CA.

At the age of 10 she and her little brother, Ted, were walking to church past the Davies house. Bill remarked to his mother. “See that pretty girl right there…I’m going to marry her someday!”

She attended Standard School and graduated from Kern Union High School. All the while their match made in heaven was blooming. On November 14, 1945 she married her childhood sweetheart. Over time June was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1952 Bill and June were sealed in the St. George LDS Temple for time and all eternity.

They served together in the LDS Los Angeles Temple for 27 years and in the Nauvoo Temple as missionaries.
June loves her husband, her family, and Jesus Christ. While on earth she strived daily to live a Christlike life.

She loves the simple things of life: She loves a good laugh, playing board games, beautiful flowers and family time at the cabin.
She loves holidays spent with her family rich in tradition and love.
She is known for sending thank you cards, uplifting letters, “Granny Grams,” personalized note pads for great grandchildren, slumber parties, and the very best homemade ice cream and cheesecake ever!
She loves serving others and is an inspiration to all.

“She is a virtuous woman more precious than rubies.”
Proverbs 31:28 “Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.”
