Glenna Hailstone Buck

(July 7, 1934 – February 6, 2024)

Glenna H. Buck transitioned to her eternal rest with the Lord on February 6, 2024 at the age of 89.

Born on July 7, 1934, in Logan, Utah to Morgan and Mamie Hailstone, Glenna was the youngest of four daughters. Her life was enriched by her older twin sisters, Roma and Rula as well as her middle sister, Shirley. She attended Logan High School and following graduation, Glenna moved to Phoenix, Arizona where she met the love of her life, Frank Buck.

Frank and Glenna were married in 1954 and their union was blessed with two sons, Scott Buck, born in 1957, and Jon Buck, born in 1959. The family faced heartbreak with Scott’s untimely passing in 2004 and Frank’s departure after a battle with cancer in 2009 at the age of 79. Following Frank’s graduation from Arizona State University, his career with Shell Oil Company brought the family to various locations across the United States including Arcadia, Phoenix, Upland, NewOrleans, Boise, Redlands, Camarillo, Nipomo, and finally Los Alamos. Above all, Glenna loved the Central Coast due to the region’s climate, scenery, and people; although, Glenna and Frank’s journey eventually led them to Rio Rico, Arizona, and then to the Ponderosa Basin in Mariposa, California.

An avid reader, Glenna found solace in the pages of a good book. Her love for reading was complemented by cherished moments spent playing bridge with Frank and solving crossword puzzles. However, her favorite role in life was being a grandmother and great-grandmother. Glenna proudly displayed photos of her family throughout her home and cherished the weeklong trips she and Frank shared with her grandchildren Domenick & Anthony in Cambria, Hearst Castle and along the Chowchilla River in the Ponderosa Basin.

Following Frank’s passing, Glenna moved to Bakersfield in 2011. Although not a big fan of the Bakersfield summer heat or foggy winters, she truly enjoyed interacting with Jon’s extended family at the Sunday dinners hosted at the Bianco’s. Glenna is survived by her son Jon (Domenique) Buck.Grandchildren Anthony Buck, as well as Domenick (Christie) Buck and their children Beau (3 ½), Luke & Cameron (7 months).

The family expresses their deep gratitude to the medical team at Memorial Hospital and the compassionate caregivers at Hoffman Hospice for their care and support. A service for Glenna will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 851 Monica Street on Monday, February 19, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.
