Gladys Clark

Gladys Joan Clark passed away in her sleep, Monday, February 3, 2020 at Arcadia Gardens Residential Care on Delecato Ct. in Bakersfield, CA. She was 87 years old. One of seven children, she was born on October 25, 1932 in Wenatchee, Washington. Her parents were George W. and Ida E. Zimmer. She married Elvis (Al) E. Clark in December 1948. Al passed away in August of 1993. Two brothers, Don and Howard, and her sister Mary preceded her in death.
Gladys is survived by her four children: Linda (Pat) Burk of Pahrump, NV; B. Allan (Susan) Clark of Bakersfield, CA; Don (Debbie) Clark of Bakersfield, CA; and Ed (Lisa) Clark of Bakersfield, CA; 5 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters (Patricia and Pauline), and a brother (Mike).
Gladys was a long time resident of Bakersfield and member of the Valley Baptist Church. One of her dreams was to work with preschool age children. Little children had her heart. She was able to fulfill her dream working for the daycare program for Valley Baptist Church where she earned the love and touched the lives of so many children through this vocation. She was known to her tiny charges and their parents as "Miss Gladys". She treasured the memories of her times with the children to the end. She kept every card or piece of art given to her by the little ones. Her other favorite pass-times were gardening, crafting, and exercise.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to Valley Baptist Church Preschool Ministry, 4800 Fruitvale Ave. Bakersfield, CA 93308.
