.My son wrote this tribute, for Gilbert Arland Brown. Loving husband, awesome father, proud Grandpa, and adoring great grandpa. Gil will forever be remembered by me and I'm sure many others as a true M.O.M. (an acronym I've coined due to a couple truly great, yet oft a bit annoying young women I have the pleasure to work with) By that I mean Gil was and forever will be a"Model Of Manhood". These types of men... TRUE MEN are said to be pretty rare and exhibit only the best of characteristics such as... hard working, kind hearted, and generous, just to name a few. Ohh... and Apparently, according to the love of my life, Krystine Kelley, along with, I'd imagine, many women (idk maybe all?) he is very handsome as well with that Sam Elliot style, rugged cowboy look.My memories of Gil will forever be a shining example of how to be real MOM. As a father to 5 extraordinary and beautiful kids, My struggle to raise my boys up right, to be outstanding men has been eased somewhat through little bits of wisdom bestowed upon me by Gilbert Brown as well as a few others. I also encourage my girls to find, marry, and start a family with a handsome, faithful and loving, yet strong provider and protector such as Gil has been for my most amazing mom... That is if they want to be happy in the long term! So even though my children didn't know, Grandpa Gil well, if at all, (the new additions never had the opportunity) they will pass on the good character, cheer, humor and strong work ethics of this man as long as I continue to incorporate those values myself and pick up that mantel. So as Gil was for me and countless others to be sure, I too will try to be the wise example not only my son's and daughters... But for everyone who I have the pleasure of leaving an impression on like Gil has left on me. So, while God, God's, fate or whatever you choose to believe in, must need this hard working, kind, and let us not forget ruggedly handsome Man's Man and gentleman for reasons unknown to us lowly mortals... has taken from us the privilege of Gilbert's wonderful company, I will do my part (and encourage everyone reading this to do the same) to ensure that his spirit and his values will live on for generations to come. We truly love you Gil... You are missed. I want to thank you, and when you take those rare breaks from whatever your duties happen to up there... Look down on us and know that I, and every other man that knew you, are better men as a result of knowing you. The same is true for our friends, families and loved ones if we only live by the example you set for us. And most of all I need to say something I wish I would have said to you before you left us... Thank you for being so good to my mom. She is a beautiful, wonderful, courageous woman. Whether she realizes it or not she is the same example to women that you are to men.... Even more... And everyone who really know my mother knows this... Like her mother, my grandma Edith, she is the best example a young woman can hope to follow. She needed and deserved, a good man such as you when you found each other. I know if I'm half as good to Krystine as you were to my mom... Hell... half as good everyone I make aquaintance as you were... I'll be able to once again have the privilege of your company and I'll make it a point to be a better friend to you in the next life than I was in this. "Happy trails to you... Til we meet again!"
