DAVID STAHLE MCARTHUR

David Stahle McArthur, 74, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, August 30, 2021. He was born on October 20, 1946 to Ervin and Carmen McArthur in Lovell, Wyoming. He was the fourth of eight children. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a Masters degree in Recreation Administration. He worked for North of the River Recreation and Park District (NOR) for 36 years and retired in 2019, after having been their General Manager for 19 years.

He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. At age 19, he served a two year mission in Northern Mexico and spent the rest of his life serving in different capacities, including his most recent as Bishop of the Bakersfield Meadows Ward.

He is known for his love of sports, especially basketball and pickle ball, his willingness to serve, and his big heart. He served in numerous community organizations, especially those dedicated to the betterment of youth. Most importantly, his tremendous and unwavering love and dedication to his family will be cherished forever. He married his soul mate, Myra Genne Ugarte, in Salt Lake City, Utah on December 5, 1969. They have five children and 11 grandchildren. His family was the joy of his life.

He is survived by his wife Myra, his children Narik McArthur, Nisha (David) Harston, Noblik (Nicole) McArthur, Nacoree (Jon) Elsdon, and Nalissy (Patrick) Donegan; his grandchildren Madison Simon McArthur, Noe McArthur, Britnie (Brandon) Jenkins, Jacob Harston, Jaxon McArthur, London McArthur, David Elsdon, Kyla Donegan, Leila Donegan, Ethan Donegan, and Declan Donegan. He is also survived by siblings Barbara Janke, Ron McArthur, Marla Benson, Nancy Mickelson, Steve McArthur, Elaine Hoagland, and Wayne McArthur.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at the Bakersfield Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 5500 Fruitvale Avenue, Bakersfield, CA 93308.
