David Massey

Our loving husband, Dad, and grandpa David Carl Massey passed away July 12, 2021 at home in

Bakersfield, Ca surrounded by those he loved dearly.

David was born June 14, 1949 in Bakersfield California to Horace and Frances Massey. He had 3 brothers and 1 sister. He attended Beardsley School, North High School, Bakersfield College, Fresno State, and Graduated from CSUB. David joined the Griffith Company work crew in 1969, and 46 years later he retired from Griffith Company in 2015. Everyone that worked with David always spoke of how hard he worked, how he never stopped until the job was done right, and that he was a friend and mentor to many. David was a man that loved his family with his whole heart. He married the love of his life Teresa Massey in 1988. Together they had a total of 5 kids that David was so proud to call his. The family cabin was one of his favorite vacation spots, along with taking day drives with his wife and kids. The one thing David passed on to all of his children and grandchildren was the love for baseball. He loved attending Dodger games with them all. David also had a love for astronomy that he loved to share with all of the kids in his life. The weather channel and musicals were his favorite thing to watch and of course baseball. No matter what he always put his family first.

David is survived by his wife Teresa Massey, Bakersfield CA; son Douglas (Elaina) Hunter, Bakersfield CA; Daughter Kayla (Anthony) Esry, Bakersfield CA; Daughter Erica Hanna, Bakersfield CA; Daughter Tanya Roscoe, TX; Brother Hugh Massey, Northridge CA; sister Lillian Massey, Bakersfield CA; Grandchildren: Alexandria (Darius) Gill, Bakersfield CA; Destiny Stockman, Ocean White, Tyler Hanna, Dylan Hunter, Piper Hanna, Elliott Hunter, David Hunter, Ethan Hunter, Gannon Esry, and Rhett Esry; Great grandchildren Jayden, Darius Jr., Ayanna, and Saffron. Along with many extended friends and family.

David is proceeded in death by his Dad Horace Massey, Mom Frances Massey, Brother’s Donald Massey and Ronald Massey, Daughter Jennifer Massey Larkins, and Granddaughter Kayden Stockman.

Services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park Chapel in Bakersfield, CA on July 24, 2021 @ 1pm.
