David L. Baker

David Lawrence Baker was born on October 6th, 1950 and died of cancer on September 3rd, 2015 in his home in Bakersfield, California. He was a kind-hearted science fiction fanatic and a beloved father, husband, and friend to everyone who was fortunate enough to know him. Although Dave was a spiritual man for the majority of his life, his relationship with God was renewed and strengthened exponentially by his close friend and pastor Gary Vaughn during his final years. While his greatest joys in life were undoubtedly his family and his faith, Dave held many passions, including but surely not limited to watching the LA Dodgers and St. Louis Rams, practicing photography, and shooting his guns for up to hours at a time. He is survived by his wife Diane; his first wife and close friend Jeanie Baker; his four children David Jr., Lisa, Ryan, and Brandon, as well as Ryan’s wife Lyndsey; his five grandchildren David, Anthony, Jonathan, Ariel, and Ashtyn; his siblings Katherine, Tim, and Mike, as well as Mike’s wife Peggy; his brother-in-law Phil Sexton and his wife Norma; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. No words exist to describe how much he will be missed. Services will be held at Parkside Church on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 11:00 AM.
