Brenda was born and raised in Oildale, Ca. To Floyd and Mae Abbott. Her dad and mom built a home on Teakwood dr and she lived there with her sisters Linda and Cindy.
She went to Beardsley Elementary and then graduated from North high School, Her Family did allot of camping, hunting, fishing and waterskiing, Her daddy made sure there was always meat in the freezer.
Brenda married young and had two children, April and Phillip. As so many young marriages go this one didn’t work out. Along comes Curtis E. McClenny. Even though they had know each other for a while it never clicked until the late 1960’s that there might be something between them.
When they both realized they were meant to be together that was the start of Brenda’s forever. This was the beginning of her true love story.
Curtis and Brenda married on June 30, 1972 in Las Vegas, Nevada. With Curtis by her side and their group of friends, Brenda’s love story began. In 1976 They had Curtis “JR.” McClenny. Now Brenda had all she ever wanted , a loving husband and three beautiful children.
She worked hard at any job she did but being a grocery checker made her the happiest. Her customers would wait in her long line just to chat with her.
Brenda also loved to sew, knit, crochet and quilt. Her levis guilt was so big that the lady that did the edging on it convinced her to make two out of it .So one became for camping and the other for the house.
Curtis is an avid hunter and fisherman. Since Brenda’s dad was also it was one more thing they shared. As long as he bagged them and caught them Brenda would wrap’m and cook them.
Brenda made allot of deer jerky that was almost world famous. It was family and friend famous. Brenda has so many family and friends it is to hard to name them all but you know who you are and she truly loved each of you.
Brenda is survived by her husband of 46 years Curtis McClenny , Daughter April Mattheus of Valdez, Alaska ., Son Phillip Mattheus of Bakersfield and Curtis “JR.” McClenny of Bakersfield.
Grandchildren , Kathrine , Keith, Kabe, Kale, Great-grandchildren, Sarah, Layla, Logan, Leonardo. Sisters Linda and Cindy.
Brenda was a staple in Oildale and will be missed dearly
by both friends and Family
