Bernice Bell Johns was born on September 16th, 1931. She entered Heaven on November 3rd. Bernice is survived by her daughters Rosemary Baker, and Ruby Thomas, her sons Dean Johns and David Johns, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren as well as her brother Jerry Sweeten and sister Betty Wing. She is preceded in death by several family members including her husband Elbert Johns, her eldest son Ray Johns, and daughters Betty Bell and Bernita Thomas. 

Bernice worked in the fields picking cotton and potatoes followed by a brief time making airplane wings. She ultimately landed a long career at Memorial Hospital managing the cafeteria. Bernice retired from the hospital after 30 years but did not stay retired for long. She went to work at Willow Tree Daycare for several more years before retiring for good. 
Bernice was passionate about helping others and sharing her love for Jesus. She was one of the first people to offer help and always made sure those around her were fed. She opened her home to her loved ones until they were able to get back on their feet offering sage advice and a shoulder to cry on along the way. Bernice left a lasting impact on all she met and will be greatly missed. 

Graveside services will be on Monday November 13th, at Shafter Memorial Park 18662 Sante Fe Way, Shafter, CA 93363. Services will begin at 10 AM. A reception will be held at Cityview Church3535 Union Ave, Bakersfield, CA 93305.
