Kevin Patrick O'Malley

Kevin Patrick O’Malley Jr., 17, of Bakersfield, died Wednesday July 25, 2012 at his home in the La Cresta neighborhood. He was born January 18, 1995 in Bakersfield, to parents Kevin and Valerie (Zollar) O’Malley. He attended Heritage Christian Schools and Our Lady of Perpetual Help School before enrolling at Garces Memorial High School in 2009, where he was a standout member of the Varsity Men’s Golf Team. Kevin was considering service to his country after high school and had spoken of joining the Navy.
Kevin is survived by his parents, Kevin and Valerie; his brothers Matthew, 24, Kyle, 21, and Connor, 20; and Jennifer Tudor and her sons Daniel, 22 and John, 18. He is also survived by his paternal grandparents Lawrence and Geraldine O’Malley and his father’s siblings Brian O’Malley, Tracy (O’Malley) Nail, Kary (O’Malley) Barker, and Chad O’Malley. On his maternal side, Kevin is survived by his grandmother Gloria Zollar, and his mother’s siblings Melanie (Zollar) Moniz, Giles Zollar Jr., and Geoffrey Zollar. And the many cousins. He joins in heaven his grandfather Dr. Giles Zollar, his great-grandparents Lawrence and Isabelle O’Malley, and his great-grandfather Joseph Kaminski.
The family appreciates the many prayers, thoughts, and condolences offered by the greater community in this time of loss. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Kern River Family Mortuary. There will be a rosary service on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church at 7:30 PM. The funeral mass will be on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Officiating, Rev. Msgr. Michael R. Braun. Immediately following the funeral mass, there will be a graveside service at Greenlawn Cemetery in northeast Bakersfield.] In lieu of flowers, consider donations to charitable funds arranged with Garces Memorial High School and the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Foundation.
