Barry Bernard Buckey

February 22, 1949 — September 6, 2014

Barry Bernard Buckey passed away on September 6th. He is preceded in death by his mother, Eva and his father, Al. He is survived by his son Bryan, his wife Lisa and son Darren; step grandson Brandon; his brother Charles, his wife Dorothy; brother Michael, his wife Maureen; and his sister Dee Ann Lantz, her husband Steve and his many nieces and nephews.

Barry was a North High School and Fresno State University graduate. He worked for years for RJ Nabisco, Contel Cellular, and later was co-owner of an oilfield safety company. He was a lifelong Catholic and member of St. Philips church.

Barry will be remembered for his love of life and easy going nature. He was a naturally inquisitive man who found value in all people. He was exceptionally generous and would give you the shirt off his back, or an extra crock pot that he had stored in his back bedroom.

During the later years of his life, he loved helping out his sons, both Special Education teachers, by donating his time and resources to their respective programs. He found great joy in barbequing for class parties and his "Buckey Burgers" were loved by all.

His family and friends will miss him, but should remember that 'to live in the hearts of the ones we leave behind is not death.'

Barry's sons would like to thank Hoffmann Hospice and a special acknowledgement for their Dad's special friend and caregiver, Maria "Maudie" Ordaz. They would also like to thank his "best bud" and nephew, Craig Buckey who had a special bond with Barry.

Donations may be made in his memory to Hoffman Hospice,8501 Brimhall Road, Building 100, Bakersfield, CA 93312.

A memorial service will be held at St. Philips church at 7100 Stockdale Hwy at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 13, 2014.
