ALEXANDER “ALEX” ROBERT STEWART
December 12, 1990 - July 23, 2019
Alexander “Alex” Robert Stewart, age 28, passed
away on July 23, 2019 in Bakersfield, California. Alex
was born on December 12, 1990 in Santa Clara
County, California to John Stewart of Bakersfield,
CA and Barbara Stewart of Plymouth, CA, arriving
thirty minutes after his identical twin brother
Garrett at Stanford Lucille Salter Packerd Hospital in
Palo Alto, California.
Alex attended Bakersfield public schools and
graduated in 2009 from Frontier High School in
Bakersfield, CA. Alex loved welding in the oil field, a
career he loved. He worked most recently for
Marriott Welding and was a member of the United
Association union. He was rarely more excited than
when he had a lit torch in his hand and his welding
hood down.
Alex was a dedicated and loving father to his son, Bentley. He adored Bentley
and cherished the time they spent together. He especially loved watching
Bentley play baseball, cheering him on from the stands.
Alex’s easygoing and fun personality endeared him to many, and he was a
loyal and beloved brother, son, grandson, cousin, nephew and friend. He will be
missed terribly by all who knew him and is gone all too soon.
Alex is survived by one son, Bentley, of Bakersfield, CA; father, John Stewart of
Bakersfield, CA; mother, Barbara Stewart of Plymouth, CA; brother, Garrett
Stewart of Bakersfield, CA; sister, Sarah Stewart Holland (Nicholas) of Paducah,
Kentucky; grandmother, Nancy Stewart of LaCenter, Kentucky; grandparents
George and Linda Roberts of Jackson, California; uncle Jeff Stewart; three aunts
Patty Rasmus, Sheree Bennett, and Leigh Ann Stewart; three nephews; and six
cousins.
Alex is preceded in death by one grandfather Ollie Stewart, Jr., of LaCenter,
KY, and one grandmother Joyce Wyrick.
Memorial services will occur at 10 am on August 1, 2019. Pallbearers will be
Garrett Stewart, Aaron Spillers, Andrew Deleon, Cody Paasch, Brad David, and
Steven Hawley. Honorary pallbearers will be Nicholas Holland, Kyle Stewart,
Michael Underwood, Corey Underwood, Jacob Rasmus, and Matt Wilson.
The family has established a GoFundMe fundraiser to defray funeral costs
and to provide future support to Bentley. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that
